The Chief of Defence Staff, Vice Admiral Seth Amoama and the military top brass on Thursday Paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in fulfillment of a pledge he made when the GJA leadership visited them a few weeks ago.

The closed door discussion which Newsflashafrica.com is privy to Centred on how to engineer a good relationship between the media and the military and support each other on a mutual accord.

Featuring prominently was the attacks on the Military by Captain Smart who leveled allegations against the CDS and issues of military attacks on the media.

Ttouching on the purpose of the visit, the CDS, Vice Admural Seth Amoama reiterated his commitment to build a very strong relationship with the media devoid of acrimony.

He acknowledged some of the excesses by his personnel especially against the media but assured the GJA that attacks on the media by the military will be a thing of the past.

On Captain Smart’s allegations, the CDS described it as unfortunate saying there is no iota of truth in the allegations.

He said what captain did sought to incite the service men against the military top brass.

In this regard the CDS appealed to purge its members who throw ethics to dogs and resort to unprofessionalism.

The GJA President, Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour commended the CDS for the visit and ensuring that there is relative peace in the country in the face of coups in the sub region.

He expressed worry over attacks on the media by the military and called on the the CDS to nip that in the bud.

He also assured the military delegation that he would ensure that all Journalists who engage in unprofessional conduct are named and shamed whilst expressing however that his allegiance is to the media and would do anything to ensure their safety welfare at all times.

Mr. Dwumfour later explained that capacity building for Journalists is one surest way of addressing unethical conduct .

He therefore appealed to the CDS to support the GJA in that regard to position Ghanaian Journalists on a level well appreciated and acknowledged.
