With just about three (3) days for the biggest media conference, 3rd African Media Convention (AMC), the organisers of the Convention, the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the Information Ministry look poised to have a very successful conference as subscription and general interest of industry players across the continent and beyond reaches peak, higher than anticipated.
This has built a strong momentum for the Convention ahead of the D-Day.
The 3rd AMC which is under the theme : “ The African Media We Want: Enhancing Freedom, Innovation, and Environmental Sustainability in a Dynamic World” takes place in Accra on the 15th-17th May, 2024 where over 25 African heads of states and 1000 media practitioners will be attending.
The event has received a major boost owing to the endorsement of President Akufo Addo who will also be opening the Convention.
Following the President’s endorsement , the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar and the GJA President, Albert Dwumfour have also endorsed the Convention through a short video clip indicating their preparedness for the historic event.
Mr. Dwumfour Madam Abubakar who are both Co- Chair of the AMC have on separate platforms said the AMC is the biggest media event to ever happen to Ghana.
AMC emerges as a pivotal forum for advancing media freedom, innovation, and sustainability across the African continent.
Stemming from the esteemed World Press Freedom Day, observed annually on May 3rd, the convention serves as a nexus for journalists, editors, policymakers, academics, civil society and media development partners to convene and deliberate on pertinent issues shaping the media landscape in AU Member States.
With a rich history rooted in safeguarding press freedom and journalistic integrity, the AMC has evolved into a beacon of collaboration and capacity-building, rotating across African countries to address evolving challenges and opportunities in the digital era.
