NPP Group Calls for Dissolution of NPP National Leadership and Campaign Team…Accuses them of Misappropriation of Campaign Funds
A group calling itself
Concerned Patriots for Change of the New Patriotic Party has called for the dissolution of the current NPP National leadership accusing them of incompetence.
Addressing a news conference in Accra on Thursday, the Convener of the Group, Mr. Gbande Nasir Yussif called for the establishment of interim management committee to steer the affairs of the party until Congress is held.
“The defeat of the NPP in the 2024 elections marks one of the darkest moments in the history of our party. Despite the collective sacrifices and commitment of our grassroots, the leadership failed to develop and implement a winning strategy. Instead, poor planning, disorgani sation, and a lack of accountability delivered a crushing defeat”, Mr. Gbande fumed.
The group also called for the immediate resignation of the current leadership, including all campaign heads, adding that
their abdication of responsibility has undermined the trust of party members and the Ghanaian electorate.
“In light of this monumental failure, we demand the immediate resignation of the current leadership, including all campaign heads. Their abdication of responsibility has undermined the trust of party members and the Ghanaian electorate.
We also call for a comprehensive and independent investigation into the root causes of this defeat. Specifically, we demand answers to the following pressing concerns:
Mismanagement of Campaign Funds: Allegations abound regarding the misappropriation of campaign resources, particularly funds allocated for grassroots mobilisation under the GOTV initiative. The Hawk Newspaper Reports claimed over GHS 300 million was expended without clear impact or proper accountability”, the Convener expatiated.
The Concerned Patriots for Change also raised red flag on the Party’s constitution and demanded an immediate review of the NPP’s constitution to address systemic flaws that hinder the progress of the party.
“Since 2022, the Annual Delegates Congress—a key decision-making body—has not been convened, leaving us reliant on an outdated electoral album that failed to produce competitive parliamentary candidates”, the group stressed.

PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE CONCERNED PATRIOTS FOR CHANGE OF THE NEW PATRIOTIC PARTY
DECEMBER 19, 2024
Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen of the press,
Thank you for responding to our call at such short notice. We, the Concerned Patriots for Change of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) , stand before you today with a sense of urgency and a resolute determination to salvage the future of our great party.
The essence of today’s engagement is to call on the National Council , National Council of Elders , and al l stakeholders to immediately dissolve the National Executive Committee (NEC) and establish an interim committee tasked with managing the party’s affairs until a congress is held to elect new leaders capable of charting a fresh course.
The defeat of the NPP in the 2024 elections marks one of the darkest moments in the history of our party. Despite the collective sacrifices and commitment of our grassroots, the leadership failed to develop and implement a winning strategy. Instead, poor planning, disorgani sation, and a lack of accountability delivered a crushing defeat”
In light of this monumental failure, we demand the immediate resignation of the current leadership, including all campaign heads. Their abdication of responsibility has undermined the trust of party members and the Ghanaian electorate.
We also call for a comprehensive and independent investigation into the root causes of this defeat. Specifically, we demand answers to the following pressing concerns:
1. Mismanagement of Campaign Funds: Allegations abound regarding the misappropriation of campaign resources, particularly funds allocated for grassroots mobilis ation under the GOTV initiative. The Hawk Newspaper Reports claimed over GHS 300 million was expended without clear impact or proper accountability.
2. Sidelining of Experienced Stakeholders: Key party stalwarts, who could have provided invaluable counsel and leadership, were marginalis ed during critical moments.
3. Abuse of Power and Neglect of Duties : Leadership exhibited incompetence, inexperience, and a blatant disregard for the concerns of the rank- and- file.
We demand that the findings of this investigation be made public to ensure transparency, accountability, and trust restoration. On ly then can the party’s integrity begin to heal.
Unity remains the backbone of the NPP. Unfortunately, the dismissals and suspensions of key members, including Hon. Alan Kyerematen, Hon. Paul Afoko, Hon. Boniface Sadiq, and others, have fragmented our party and weakened its collective strength.
We believe it is time to recall all suspended and dismissed members to foster reconciliation and inclusivity. If the NDC can integrate former defectors like Kosi Tanor into their team, the NPP must rise above grudges and bring our members back into the fold.
We urge leadership to:
• Immediately reinstate all dismissed and suspended members to ensure full participation in party activities.
• Conduct an internal review of the processes that led to these divisions and enact safeguards to prevent recurrence.
• Establish a reconciliation committee to facilitate dialogue and restore trust between leadership and grassroots members.
The time for healing is now. Our strength lies in our unity, and we cannot afford to remain divided.
DEMAND FOR EARLY CONGRESS
We strongly call on the National Council of Elders and National Executive Committee to urgently draft a timeline for internal elections to replace the failed leadership. Allowing the same individuals responsible for this crisis to remain in charge is akin to compounding the problem.
New leaders will bring fresh perspectives, renewed energy, and the commitment needed to prepare for the next election cycle.
We demand:
1. Immediate Publication of an Election Timeline: Include clear dates for nominations, campaigning, and voting.
2. Transparency in Elections: Ensure a free, fair, and inclusive process, allowing all members to participate without undue influence.
3. Accountable Leadership: Elect individuals capable of restoring integrity, unifying the party, and advocating for our shared values.
This is a pivotal moment for the NPP. We must act decisively to regain public confidence and position ourselves for future victories. DEMAND FOR CONSTITUTIONAL REFORMS TO STRENGTHEN PARTY DEMOCRACY
The Concerned Patriots for Change demand an immediate review of the NPP’s constitution to address systemic flaws that hinder progress. Since 2022, the Annual Delegates Congress—a key decision-making body—has not been convened, leaving us reliant on an outdated electoral album that failed to produce competitive parliamentary candidates.
