The Chief of Defense of the Ga State, King Ayi Tunmaa II has blamed some greedy, fake and immigrants Chiefs in the Ga Dangme for the indiscriminate sale of family lands to Politicians and Business men within the Greater Accra region.

Chief of Defense of the Ga State, King Ayi Tunmaa II addressing the media

King Tunmaa II who is also the CEO of Ga Dangme Lands Administration (GDLA), made this revelations at a news conference in Accra.

He said the wanton and indiscriminate sale of Ga lands is the reason the Ga Dangme Lands Administration (GDLA) has been established to protect the lands within the Greater region as well as resolve land disputes in the region.

“We didn’t establish GDLA because we Ga Dangmes no! we work under the capacity of the owner of the family Lands per Attorney”, he explained.

Some of the Traditional Councils and Families he said have given GDLA power of attorney include Ngleshie Traditional Council which constitute 70% of Ga lands, Teshie Traditional Council, Tunmaa we Children in Osu called Nii Saban Gbolo Tswalor among others.

King Ayi Tunmaa later revealed that a plot of land in Accra costs over a million dollars wondering why government would go a for IMF bail out when there is a cash cow which is not well managed.

He is therefore calling on the IGP to collaborate with GDLA so that the indiscriminate sale of lands and land disputes in the region can be curtailed.

“Land litigations at the Police and the Court is the reason why we wrote to IGP is to give us attention so that we give him intelligence on ownership of land for family and stool in the region”, he noted.

“We believe if the security agency collaborate with us there will be peace and sanity in the Greater Accra region as far as lands are concerned”, the CEO of GDLA added.

King Tunmaa II revealed that the GDLA has so far handled 350 cases, stressing the need for Traditional Councils and the Police in the region to collaborate with GDLA for proper administration of stool and family Lands devoid of illegalities and indiscriminate sale of Lands.
