Don’t Deceive Yourself that Ghanaians are Peaceful, No- Trouble People- Duncan Williams to EC
The Founder and general Overseer of Action Chapel International (ACI), Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams has admonished the Electoral Commission (EC) to carry out its mandate with fairness to avoid the country being plunged into what he described as the Sierra-Leone situation.
He said Ghanaians, though peace loving people, can revolt when their anger hits an apogee.
Archbishop Duncan Williams made the statement in Accra when former President and flagbearer of the NDC, John Dramani Mahama met the Ecumenical Council as part of his “Building Ghana We Want” tour.
“Don’t deceive yourself that Ghanaians are peaceful, no- trouble People”, he stressed.
“Angry people are dangerous and when their anger gets to a certain level they are dangerous to manage”, Archbishop Duncan Williams cautioned.
He also expressed worry over the brain drain situation in the country and hoped that the situation would be arrested.
“In this country our doctors are leaving. We hope that we will also not become refugees”, he said.
He later said as a Christian community, they are concerned about the state of the nation and that they would do what ever within their means to ensure that the right things are done to keep the country in one piece.
Earlier, former President John Mahama outlined some of his policies to the respected men of God hinting that his administration will partner the Church in the management of schools and some institutions in the country.
He explained that the schools and hospitals owned by the mission houses (the church) more often than not do better than the public schools and health institutions.
He added that, that is a testament that the churches are better managers of the aforementioned institutions hence must be partnered in the management of those institutions.
“We will work together with you to create a meaningful and Prosperous lives for our congregation and our people”, the Former President stressed.
He revealed that his administration is going to increase the influence of Church in the management of schools and health institutions by appointing Church leaders into governing boards of those institutions in order to enhance the management and productivity of public schools and hospitals.
Mr. Mahama later expressed worry over the current government’s citing of schools and hospitals at places which already have such facilities, owned by the Church.
He described that as duplication of facilities, which resources he said could have been invested in the existing institutions and make them vibrant.
“Where we have mission schools or hospitals, we will not establish a rival institution. We will rather invest into the existing institutions”, Mr. Mahama emphasized.
