Convenor for Proud Menzgold Customers, Lawyer Maurice Ampaw has appealed to government to support NAM 1 to retrieve its multi-billion investment in Dubai maintaining that the current prosecution of the CEO of Menzgold Nana Appiah Mensah aka NAM 1 does not serve the interest of the customers.
Addressing a news Conference in Accra on Friday(January 5, 2024), Mr. Ampaw revealed that the trial Judge Justice Owusu Dapaah gave a hint by saying that the prosecution of NAM 1 can be looked at again.

“We the customers therefore want to say that we side with the presiding judge Justice Owusu Dapaah who said that the prosecution of NAM 1 can be looked at again by the interested parties and that the interest of the customers is to retrieve the money back.
We associate ourselves with the position of the Court”, Mr. Ampaw emphasized.
He further explained that what is happening at the court in connection with prosecution of NAM 1 will result in two things adding that he would either be convicted, fined or acquitted and discharge.
He indicated that both scenarios does not serve the interest of the customers hence the appeal to government to intervene in liaising with the government of Dubai to retrieve NAM 1’s multi-billion investments to be used in paying the affected customers.
“Every menzgold customer has one interest and our interest is the retrieval of our money, nothing more nothing less”, he added.
According to the Convenor who himself has his investment locked up further noted that Mensgold has not been liquidated and that the company created jobs and paid a lot of taxes and royalties to the Minerals Commission hence the need to protect the company to enable it pay back the monies to the affected people.
He later revealed that some of the influential persons amongst the affected customers have been.paid by EOCO , assuring the rest of the customers that their monies would be paid should governmentheed to their request.
Accordingly he said NAM1 has petitioned the following persons and institutions to intervene in the retrieval of his investments from Dubai.
They are President Akufo Addo, the Asantehene , the Chief Imam and former President J.A Kufour.
The rest are Chief Justice, Ministers of Justice and Foreign Affairs, Lawyer Kwame Akuffo, Ambassador of Spain to Ghana among others.
