Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as COKA, the former Constituency Chairman of Afigya Kwabre South for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has emphasized the critical need for unity within the party to secure victory in the 2024 elections.
He highlighted the significance of the Ashanti Region, often considered the party’s stronghold, and stressed that if unity is not promoted in the region, it could pose challenges for the NPP in the upcoming elections.
COKA who was speaking to sompa fm “ade akye abia” in kumasi last tuesday opined that the party has done well by using the constitution to deal with Alan kyerematen’s allies who have formed a movement to undermine the NPP.
” this Alan kyerematen movement for change. I am happy the party is using the constitution to handle them by for instance sacking ohene Ntow and co from NPP. However there are other butterfly movement members who are in the constituencies and are on NPP platforms and sit in NPP meetings that the party should be watchful of”.
He emphasized that addressing internal issues and promoting unity is crucial for the NPP’s success in the 2024 elections.
Acknowledging internal challenges within the party, COKA urged leaders to engage in dialogue and resolve issues to prevent potential voter apathy in the Ashanti Region.
He underscored the need for all factions, including supporters of Vice-President Dr. Bawumia, Alan Kyerematen, Addai Nimo, and Afriyie Akoto, to unite for the party’s ultimate success in 2024.
Commenting on the running mate conversation, COKA reiterated his belief that Dr. Bawumia’s running mate should come from the Ashanti Region.
However, he acknowledged that the decision ultimately lies with the presidential candidate, as per the party’s constitution.
COKA urged party members to focus on the legacy of President Akufo-Addo, stating that it would be a crucial factor in the 2024 elections.
He defended the party’s achievements, citing the free SHS policy, 1D1F, 1 constituency 1 ambulance, and other accomplishments.
Additionally, he assured that the NPP has plans to address concerns raised by various groups, including market women, taxi drivers, businessmen, teachers, and students.
COKA expressed support for efforts to bring Alan Kyerematen and his team back into the NPP, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration within the party.
The NPP, facing internal challenges and preparing for the 2024 elections, is navigating the need for cohesion and strategic planning to secure success at the polls.
