We are Now Using Excel to Compile Data; We’ve Abandoned the Corel Draw-Jean Mensa

The Chairperson of Electoral Commission.(EC) Madam Jean Mensa has revealed that the errors that characterized the compilation of data in the Limited voter registration was as a result of the corel draw that they used in compiling the data.

She explained that the Commission has resorted to Excel for the compilation of data going forward.

EC Chair, Jean Mensa addressing the Editors and media owners

The EC Chair made this revelation when she met top media Editors and media managers in Accra on Tuesday (May 29, 2024) to discuss modalities for Special Voting for the media and security agencies.

“They [IT guys] were relying on corel draw to come up with these pie charts and bar graphs. The Corel draw has been abandoned and excel has been applied”, she emphasized.

She explained further that because the EC is a listening Commission, they quickly looked at the problem and resolved it.

“Because we are listening Commission we came back to let the public know what went wrong and what has been done”, she said.

It would be recalled that the EC faced stiff criticism from the opposition NDC over what was described as transpositional errors.

But the EC Chair maintains that its resolve to use the Excel in compilation of data puts to rest all lingering questions.

She later assured the media of support to enable them disseminate electoral related information to the public as part of EC’s “the citizens must Know” agenda.
