It was all glamour Pop and pageantry as immediate past Executive Secretary of PRINPAG, Nii Laryea Sowah aka Kenteman was on Friday (December 22, 2023) honored for his selfless dedication, long service, and above all, as one of the pioneers of the Private Newspaper and Online Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG).
He was presented with a high spirited citation on the night amidst standing ovation from members of the Association.
Three other members of the Association namely Daily Guide, winning best Lay out/Design Newspaper, with Herald- best Newspaper Content and Modernghana.com winning best online portal.
Mr. Sowah, [after being handed the Citation jointly presented to him by the GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, the Executive Secretaries of NMC and GIBA , Mr. George Sarpong and Gloria Hiadzi respectively] mounted the podium and expressed his gratitude to the Executives of PRINPAG for honoring him and showing him love.
He recounted the early days of the Association coupled with their struggle to get the Association on its feet and advised the members and the Executives to do more than they did.
The PRIPAG President, Mr. Edwin Arthur earlier in a welcome address, explained that the get together was held to enable Members network, wine and dine.
He said all things being equal, the get together would become an annual ritual calling on members to support the current Executives and the Association in general to make strides in the years ahead.
The GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour in a solidarity message expressed his commitment to partner and support PRINPAG in advancing the frontiers of media in the country
He also re-iterated his resolve to seek Journalists’ welfare and defend them at all times.
The GJA President however admonished the media to be guided by the ethics of the profession and demonstrate professionalism at all times stressing that Journalists who fall foul to the ethics will not be shielded.
For his part, the Executive Secretary of the NMC, Mr. George Sarpong advised Journalists especially in the broadcasting space to be cautious of the contents they churn out to the public.
He said, as a Commission , their interest is in the sanctity of the airwaves and that any station thar breaches the aforementioned would not be treated with kids gloves.
The Awards Committee made up of Ernest Addo-Chairman, Efo Mawugbe and Felix Nyaaba as members were also commended for doing a great job.
