GJA Solidarizes With Class Media Over Petrol Bombing Incident.

President of GJA, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour on Wednesday (May 1, 2024), visited the Class Media Group (CMG) to solidarize with them over the petrol bombing incident at their premises.

Last Thursday, unidentified men petrol bombed the façade of the CMG building but they were unsuccessful due to the durability of the glass installation at the entrance of the building.

In view of the above, the GJA President with a 6-member delegation went there to ascertain at first hand what actually happened and to show solidarity to management and staff of Seidu Agongo owned media group-classfm and Accra FM.

The delegation was met by the Group Operation Officer (GOO) of CMG, Theodore Edward who briefed the delegation and showed them CCTV pictures of how the assailants went about the petrol bombing.

He revealed that the incident happened at 2:00 am at time most of the staff had closed and gone home.

He said they have since reported the incident to the Cantonment police station.

Mr. Edwards expressed his appreciation to the GJA President and his team for visiting them especially on holiday.

He also thanked Korean International Co-operation Agency (KOICA) [a building opposite to theirs] whose CCTV footage revealed the modus operandi  of the assailants.

“To come with a strong team to visit us on holiday, we don’t take it for granted. We appreciate it”, he said.

The GJA President on his part condemned the act and called on the Police to investigate and get to the bottom of the incident.

He also advised CMG to take their security seriously adding that “with elections approaching, the security of the media houses ought to be tighter”.

The delegation was made up of Mr. Kobby Asmah, a member of the National Media Commission, Mr. Michael Petit Mawugbe, Executive Secretary to the President, Mr. Vance Azu , who is a Veteran Journalist, Roland Acquah Stevens and Mohammed Alhassan who are members of GJA.
