GCBC’s SPI National Peace and Security Forum Ends With a Call for Peace During the Elections.
The 2-Day Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference (GCBC)’s SPI Forum on Social Cohesion, Security and Peaceful Elections has ended with a call for all and sundry to commit to peace and security during the 2024 elections.
The Forum which drew about 500 participants each day, saw notable personalities addressing the Forum and expressing worry over threats of Jihadists in the Sahel regions as well as the need for peace during the elections.
These personalities include the President of the GCBC, Rev. Mathew Antwi, National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah , SPI Regional Co-ordination President Rev. Father Clement Aapengnuo and Metropolitan Archbishop of Cape Coast, Most Rev. Gabriel Charles Palmer Buckcle.
The rest are Former National security Co-ordinator, Hon. Francis Poku, Chief Director of National Security Ministry, General Tim BataaBanah, the GJA President, Mr. Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, Dr. Fred Deegbe and Chairman of Peace Council, Dr. Ernest Adu-Gyamfi.
They all called for a concerted effort to consolidate the peace Ghana is enjoying and charged the media, CSOs, religious leaders and Politicians to eschew any conduct that exposes the country to danger or chaos.
In turns, they all expressed their commitment to peace and prayed for total security within the Sahel regions and peace during the 2024 elections.
The SPI Forum, organized by the GCBC was in collaboration with the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Ministry of National Security, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and Caritas Ghana.
