The Executive Director of Africa Centre for Energy Policy (ACEP), Mr. Benjamin Boakye has exposed ECG and government on the power outages, insisting that dumsor is back as the frequent power outages Ghanaians are experiencing is purely generational issues and not transformer challenges as the ECG claims.

He argued that PURC and GridCo have confirmed that there is deficit in power generation.

“Once you have [generational] deficit you shed loads and that is what is happening”, ACEP boss stressed.

Mr. Boakye who disclosed this in an interview on TV3’s Ghana Tonight on Monday, advised the ECG to be transparent with Ghanaians as ECG can not play politics with power.

“It is pure generational problem. Everybody knows we don’t have gas so they should be candid with us”, he stressed.

According to him, the replacement of 600 transformers and fuses the ECG claims are the cause of the outages is just mere hoax.

“What we are doing to this economy by not telling the truth is that people can not plan their lives businesses can not plan”, Mr. Boakye fumed.
