Apollonia Chief Storms Residents’ Homes with Police to unlawfully Evict them from their Homes
Residents of Appolonia [a suburb of Katamanso in the Greater Accra region ] on Wednesday received a shock of their lives as the Chief of the area Nii Nuertey Amobi II stormed their homes with Tema Harbour Police numbering about 30 to evict them from their homes and lock their gates.
According to the Residents many of whom are women who looked traumatized, said the Chief stormed their homes with the Police demanding additional money for Lands that they acquired and paid for so many years ago from the same stool.
The Traumatized Residents said this is not the first time the chief and his land guards and police are doing this to them adding that they occasionally come and harass them ostensibly to extort money from them.
The Residents narrate that their granteur, Nii Iddrisu Mansro who sold the land to them is one of the signatories whose name has been captured in the books of the Land Commission.
They added that the current claimant of the Stool Nii Amobi II does not have his name in the books of the Land Commission yet he is claiming custody of their lands and pursuing them to come and pay an atonement to him.
Independent checks by Newsflashafrica.com revealed that even though a High court has ruled in favour of the chief, the chief has refused service of an appeal and has since been engaging in hide and seek with the bailiff.
Meanwhile, the Residents, following the harassment by the Chief and the Police, have vowed to face the Chief and the Police boot for boot should they storm the area again.
They have also appealed to the IGP to call the Tema Police Commander to order for releasing his “boys” to the beleaguered chief to go traumatize law abiding residents in Appolonia.
