All African Games Ghosts Chase GBC and Youth & Sports Ministry
The Ministry of Youth and Sports and GBC on Tuesday became the cynosure of salvos over the payment of 3.6million dollars for the coverage of All African Games (AAG).
The expose came to light at the sitting of the Paublic Accounts Committee when the sector Minister Mustapha Yussif disclosed to Sam George that the Ministry paid a total of 3.6 million dollars to GBC as production for the AAG.
But few hours after the expose, following the controversy building around the scandal the Director General of GBC, Prof .Amin Alhassan denied the assertions of the Minister in a radio interview stating that the Corporation only received 105,000 dollars.
Subsequently a statement to that effect was issued by the Corporation giving the chronology of the contract.
As if that would be the end of the debacle, the sector Ministry has also issued a statement stating that GBC was paid a total of 2.5mlion Dollars for the production of the AAG.
The allegations, claims and counter claims by the two state institutions has got Ghanaians talking and asking “ so where did the remaining millions of dollars go?
On Facebook, Stan Xoese Dogbe had this to say
“The matter move go third gear.
From the update below from the Sports Minister, GBC received a total of $2.5 million directly from the ministry, while its third parties it said worked on the production were paid $1 million on behalf of GBC.
Mr. Director General of GBC, na so the thing go? Why you dey claim say only $105k you receive and later groping in the dark about some companies receiving the rest of the money?
Matter Dey or matter no Dey?
#accountability.
Meanwhile Ghanaians are enraged about the rest of the money that can not be traced and are wondering whether or not the money disappeared like a ghosts.
As to whether the chop” “chop happened at GBC or at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Newsflashafrica.com can only say coming events cast their shadows.
