We Will Reset Ghana for Jobs and Progress-Naana Opoku Agyemang
Vice Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has called on Ghanaians to seize the opportunity in the upcoming general elections to redirect the nation from its current trajectory of stagnation and corruption to a future marked by jobs, women empowerment, and progress.
Speaking to various professional groups, including university lecturers, lawyers, and nursing trainees in Sunyani during her campaign tour of the Bono Region, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the significance of the December 7 elections, describing it as a crucial moment for resetting the country’s course
“We have the option to reset this country. It is not going to be a joke; it is not going to be a child’s game, but we either reset or we sink further. The choice is ours,” she remarked, urging Ghanaians to take decisive action at the polls.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang lamented the state of the nation under the leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, asserting that the country has experienced economic decline, pollution of water bodies, and a breakdown in governance since they assumed office in 2017.
According to her, Ghanaians have endured poor leadership for the past eight years, and it is now time for professionals—including health workers, academics, students, and the general public—to play their part in voting for change. She urged them to support John Dramani Mahama, the NDC’s presidential candidate, and NDC parliamentary candidates to restore the country to a path of progress.
Addressing students and academic staff, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stressed the need for logic and reason in their political discourse, warning against tribal-based voting patterns.
“The campus should be the only place where they should be honest enough about what they believe in and explain it using logic. And it shouldn’t be because of where I come from or how we vote traditionally. When this comes from students, and academic staff, it’s a pity,” she said.
She concluded by assuring Ghanaians that the NDC, under Mr. Mahama’s leadership, is committed to prioritizing the welfare of the people by creating jobs and opportunities for all.
